In 2018, Daniel Lee was appointed the creative director of Bottega Veneta - filling in the Philo-esque gaping hole left in the fashion industry. Prior, he was the Director or Ready-To-Wear Design at Céline.
Structured, modern, geometric and clean are only some of the few words that come to mind when looking at the new Bottega Veneta. Daniel Lee began his journey at the brand focusing on only the essentials; his first instinct was to "clean it up" and to make a sort of "palate cleanser". Fortunately, Kering's Mr. Pinault is extremely supportive of the new creative direction. Lee understands that a timelessness luxury is missing from the market; the quiet confidence which he aims to portray through his clothing.
Fortunately, the Philophiles that mourned Old Celine (and still do, like myself) will find that familial feeling in the new Bottega. His collection focuses on leather which exudes elegance, understated dresses and neutral color palettes; focusing on the timelessness of the garments.
