The 2014 LVMH Prize Winner is ever so needed in today's noisy fashion market...
Starting out in Paris, Peter Do launched his career in 2018 just having worked at Derek Lam and Phoebe Philo for Celine. In a world with filled noisy Instagram influencers, Mr. Do brings us back to the real artistic aspect of fashion; focusing on tailoring, modernity and an overall discreetness that the luxury world could use more of.
His clothes are extremely sophisticated, wearable and edgy; he strongly believes in creating a modern uniform for the modern woman. This mentality brings the viewer of the clothing back to the craftsmanship, to an appreciation of original fabrics and tailoring as seen below.
"At Celine, I learned to make clothes for real women, I was surrounded by women who actually wore the products every day. It was always grounded in reality." Mr. Do says. As he met his whole through team through the internet, social media has a played a massive role in the designer's success. After consumers were left with a Philo-esque gap in the market, Peter Do's Instagram took off attracting the likes of Nordstrom and Dover Street Market.
Currently based in Brooklyn, New York, I cannot wait to pay the boutique a visit myself...
