A metaphysical connection right in your own home.
Polish born and Los Angeles based, Karola Maszkiewicz creates sculptures from wood, steel, ceramic and bronze - a phenomenal aspect being that the wood originated from the aftermath of the 2008 Woolsey fire. Her works have been compared to the great Alexander Calder but the distinguished chic-ness present in her works come from her time as a fashion designer working for the likes of Juicy Couture and Wren.
As Saatchi Art mentions: "Kinetic table-top sculptures designed for a modern interior. Their intended purpose is to create a metaphysical connection between the viewer and the object. The physical presence of the person changes the immediate future of this seemingly lifeless object. Alternatively, the sculpture can have a pacifying meditative effect. Not only can a person affect the object, but the changed dynamic of the object also determines the person's future state of mind."
Featuring modern, geometric shapes, wire lines, a playful yet elegant aesthetic, her sculptures are something I do intend to collect in the future (especially for the meditative aspect that everyone could use more of).
